The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 19 year old forward Andrew Haxton for the 2022/23 season. Haxton, from Wakefield Rhode Island comes to the Capitals out of the Nobles & Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts, where he finished with 11 goals and 17 points in 23 games in United States High School Prep Hockey play.
“I believe speed is one of my strongest attributes, I love to play the game with pace. I like to be relentless on the puck, whether it’s on the back check or in the offensive zone. I look to bring high energy, and intensity to the group. I can’t wait to arrive in Cowichan Valley and get started” said Haxton.
In the Covid-affected 2020/21 season Haxton played for the Cape Cod Whalers and led the team with 43 points while also tying for the team lead with 17 goals, playing with a couple of current BCHL players including Trevor O’Brien (Coquitlam) and Anthony Cafarelli (Wenatchee). In 2019/20 Haxton played with current Capitals 20 year old and regular season leading scorer David Jacobs at Nobles & Greenough. That season Haxton recorded 5 goals and 10 points in 27 games in his 16 year old season, Jacobs had 15 goals and 45 points as an 18 year old.
“Andrew is a quick skater and is a threat off of the rush. He is a two way player, hard working and his aggressive style of play will be well suited in the BCHL. We are thrilled to have Drew join the Capitals family for the 2022-23 season” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.
