The Cowichan Capitals are very happy to announce that 19 year old forward Ty Pochipinski has committed to Colorado College’s NCAA Division 1 hockey program. Pochipinski is in his second season with the Capitals and has tripled both his goal and points totals from last season. He leads the team with 18 goals on the year, and sits second on the team with 31 points in 47 games. Ty is a Colorado Springs product and now has the opportunity to play D1 hockey in his hometown. He played minor hockey in Colorado until he was 17, when he moved to Canada and played a season at the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy before joining Cowichan.
“I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to play D1 hockey at Colorado College. Thank you to all my friends, teammates, and family who helped me get here. Go Tigers!” Pochipinski said in a tweet announcing his commitment.
In the RPI National Hockey rankings Colorado College sits 25th in the country with a record of 11-11-4. They play in the National Colegiate Hockey Conference along with the likes of Denver and North Dakota. Notable Tigers Alumni include Vancouver Canucks goalie Richard Bachman, former Canucks defence-man Doug Lidster, current Minnesota Wild defenseman Nate Prosser, and St. Louis Blues forward Jayden Schwartz.
Once again, congrats Ty!
